IGBT Modules The acclaimed DIM (IGBT High-Power Modules) are robust and work with high reliability at any temperature condition from -40/-50°C up to +150°C. They are offered in a range of 500A to 3600A at 1200V to 6.5kV, which enables them to function in different circuit topologies (half bridge, single switch, chopper) in various high power inverter power ratings.
Phase Control Thyristors The Dynex Phase Control Thyristor is used in DC drives, Static Transfer Switches, Frequency Converters, Line Commutated HVDC Converters, Controlled Rectifiers, Static VAR compensators, in fact, any application requiring energy efficiency, switching at line frequencies and not requiring the switch to have turn-off capabilities. Thyristors are typically used in AC to DC converters (Rectifiers) which employ phase control to vary the average voltage on the output of the converter or switch the AC supply on and off. Operating at line frequencies where switching losses are small, the low conduction losses of phase control thyristors make for high system efficiency. Voltages range from 1200V used with domestic supplies to 8.5kV for medium voltage applications. Their high overload capability makes them ideally suitable for fuseless applications.
Press-pack IGBT A modern design employing state-of-the-art technologies designed primarily for grid applications – high current, high voltage, high reliability. Dynex are able to supply press-pack IGBTs with a range of industry -standard contact diameters from 34mm to 150mm and current ratings from 120A up to 3000A at 4500V. An integrated research and development and manufacturing facility enables chips and devices to be tailored to customers’ applications. Gate Turn Off Thyristors The Gate Turn-off Thyristor has an inherent fast turn-on but is really designed to be turned off from a high current making it useful in PWM and chopper circuits. Dynex Semiconductor’s range of GTOs was primarily designed for use in railway traction and light rail propulsion drives and auxiliary converters although they have found use in other applications such as early STATCOMs. Applications for GTOs are those that require DC to be turned on and off in a controlled manner. Such applications include AC motor inverters, choppers and DC-DC converters.
FRD Modules The new family of high-voltage fast recovery diode (FRD) modules has been designed for use in rail traction, industrial motor drives, induction heating and power generation. The FRD modules are designed to match and to work as the input rectifiers for the existing Dynex range of IGBT modules.
Rectifier Diodes Dynex Semiconductor’s Rectifier Diodes are rugged converters of AC to DC finding use in industrial, chemical rectifiers and aluminium pot lines. Special applications include rotating exciters for power generators where the diodes are specially made to endure the high G forces encountered on the rotor of the generator. Also specially developed are diodes used to protect the superconducting magnets of the LHC at CERN in Geneva and high power avalanche diodes with multiple pellets in one ceramic puck to achieve 50kV for use in experimental pulse power fusion reactors.
